The Climb #6
The Climb is a monthly at the second closest place to me, maybe the closest since the "closest" has not had an event yet this year and that is not looking good. Fingers Crossed tho
So we take the trek down to the peak where I meet some familiar faces from no fox given, which was great. I am admittedly super awkward around new people so I was relieved to see someone I had met at least once before lol. I warm up for a bit and the games get going.
Remember the person I said I knew. That;s my homegirl Slimy (who's real name i do not know, shout out the internet lol) and we are playing first round. I knew she did well at No Fox when I did not so I was expecting to not do great, which is mostly true but I felt like I was playing better here than I would have at any other time, so I was overall happy with taking some stocks even though i had an 0-2 game count with her. She ended up 2ns out of about 12 or so which makes me feel a bit better lol.
So I wait a while and awkwardly do not play friendlies, which I really need to stop doing, but I did enjoy watching some people play, I particularly liked the playstyle of a falco there who ended up winning the whole event.
Next up I went against a guy who goes by wigwam, he had the venue name as his sponsor tag so I assume he is a reular here, as this place seems to be a bit grassroots to have a sponsorship program, so I think he is just a chiller. and he was he was a cool person. For some reason we switched to bo5 here which was fine by me as I got more games in lol. I started out losing a lot of neutral again and falco vs peach this does not bode well for me as I am so gimpable. This lasts for two games that were 1 or 2 stocks but I still lost. I then manage to get a better grasp though and actually take my first game against a competent player at a tourney. This ability to shift my gameplay mid set after downloading info on this person really made me proud, and it is something I hop to keep doing. This won me the third game and unfortunately I had a tech flub and side B'd to my death at an early percent which was a deficit I could not come back from. Another one or two stock that could have been my game potentially.
Then I really just watched the rest of the tourney and went home. I need to make an effort to play more friendlies as that should be a pretty big part of improving for me and for some reason I just get so awkward IRL when I really am not like that most of the time. Thanks slippi lol
